Understanding And Keeping Focus On The Goal
The first thing that must be gotten across and clearly understood right at the start is what you are attempting to accomplish or reach. This is so important, because unless everyone is on-board with what it is they are trying to get done, the chances of doing it are greatly diminished. So, a clearly defined goal is the vital start to the journey.
Putting Aside One’s Personal Ego
It is not uncommon in any sort of joint venture for a person to begin thinking that they know the best way to achieve the goal, and perhaps the others they are working with are totally lost. They are the best at solving problems, and the others just don’t get it! This attitude is one of the human conditions more common ones, and also one that if not handled properly will lead the team effort to basically go around in circles. Putting a harness on one’s ego is not easy, but it is so important to the better good.
Talk To Your Teammates Directly
If you are fortunate enough to be in a situation where you are working face-to-face with your fellow team members, you are at an advantage, and don’t let it pass by. Speak directly with your fellow team members and tell them what you think and why you think it, and how this will contribute to reaching the goal. Then sit back and with an open mind and an open heart, listen to their responses and then listen to their suggestions. This is not always easy to do, but if you stay focused on the ultimate goal only, it will be done.
